University dropout at the IV International Higher Education Symposium, Costa Rica

The challenges that higher education assumes, linked to the educational mission in the midst of achanging society, lead in particular to an alarming, complex and multifaceted situation, affecting
in the first instance young people, who, due to financial difficulties, lack of adaptation to change,
motivation, projection with the selected career and leaden goals, are those who abandon their studies,
thus failing to complete the academy. Although there is a large gap between skills and knowledge,
the negative impact on the self-esteem and confidence of young people is even more complex.
It is not only negative for society in the loss of economic investment, but also as a result of this,
it makes it difficult for many deserters to join the labor market; This is why at the “IV International
Symposium on Higher Education with Meaning and Belonging” in Puntarenas, Costa Rica, several aspects were
highlighted, including authors who refer to the lack of commitment of the different Latin American
governments and their role. principal in financing the university studies of the different populations,
since an inefficient political will has been what has framed the announcement of a dropout linked to the
structural problems and social condition of the communities.
