Vitalismo y mecanicismo: una alianza improbable en torno a la fuerza vital

Abstract: The aim of this paper is to argue that, in the process of formulating Theodor Schwann’s animal cell theory published in 1839, it is possible to discern the potential for dialogue between two different and seemingly irreconcilable conceptual frameworks: Vitalism and the mechanistic philosophy This idea aligns with Karl Popper’s critique of relativism in his book The Myth of the Common Framework, in which he states that “all fruitful rational discussion is impossible unless the participants share a common framework of basic assumptions, or at least have agreed upon such a framework for the purpose of discussion.”
